What's Missing on the Palm Pre?

Now that we've all had a chance to digest all the Pre-ness, its time to take a long hard look at this screen. Now, if you're a die-hard Windows Mobile user, then you already know what I'm getting to: Today Screen.
One of the very best things about Windows Mobile is the Today Screen and being able to configure it any way that you want...and unfortunately, I'm not sure that's going to be happening on the Pre for two reasons:
1. The WebOS is (technically) the next generation of the Palm OS. Palm's home screen has always consisted of the launcher screen -with the exception of the Centro which adds the phone screen as a landing pad if so configured. Palm, Apple and Blackberry tend to share the same ideology of wasting the page with large icons by default.
2. The 'home screen' will unlikely be developed because the space is meant for the 'cards' of your running applications. I imagine for simplicity's sake they will be looking to keep the landing page simple. Not a bad idea, but the thought of running an app for every piece of info I want to see at a glance is quite off-putting.
