Purple (No) Rain

I mentioned earlier this year that we now have 'color themed' days in our clinic where staff all have coordinated scrub colors for each day. Today is purple and I decided to mix it up with different shades. Shirt and skirt are from JCPenney, Shoes are Trotters via Zappos and handbag is Michael Kors' Grayson in Peony.

The Saga of the Misshapen MK

I ordered this MK Grayson off eBay for 50% off with the flaw of it not having the signature MK tag which I found I could get hold of directly from the company. Unfortunately, when it was shipped, it was in a flat box and since then I have struggled to restore some sort of shape to it. In the end I stuffed it and am hoping that overtime it will lose some of its slouch and regain some structure. I absolutely love the color (peony) and the style.

Real or Fake? That is the question

A few years ago I bought the 'Fendi' bag on the right with no prior experience about designer bags. I truly just loved the shape of the bag. It came to me in a pretty well-worn state and I carried it more self-conscious about how scruffy it looked than about it being a knock-off.
Fast forward to today, and I am certain now that it is in fact a fake. And I'm okay with that- I don't remember how much I spent on it but it wasn't too much. However, this recent purchase on the left is upsetting me. I was so excited to receive this having done my due diligence on the seller, and really scrutinizing the images in the auction. However, once it arrived, I immediately noticed that it appeared 'too new' to be vintage. There was no leather rub at all and on closer inspection the stitching and hardware seem inconsistent with true Fendi design. However, I love the shape so much and it's in such better condition that I'm considering whether it's worth it to just keep it and have an exotically shaped bag....

Kate Spade Haul

Introducing my new addition: The Wellesley Allesa by Kate Spade. I really enjoy the size of it  and the color is absolutely stunning. I tend to lean toward the structured bags and this one is no exception.

First Michael Kors Bag

After an extensive search I finally found my staple black handbag- it's the Michael Kors Hamilton East-West Satchel. Last night I went to the MK store intending to get the Selma bag only to find that it was way too big in person (almost like a briefcase). I toyed with the ideal of the medium Selma but they only had them in the neon yellow or white version- not what I was looking for. In the end I had decided to look elsewhere when I happened to see this beauty. It is exactly the right shape and size, and I have no doubt that I'll be carrying this classic piece for years to come.

Going Tribal

This weekend I picked up this Alfred Dunner jacket from a consignment store that I love and immediately nicknamed it the 'Aztec'. It's very busy, and I think the next time I wear it I will tone it down by wearing it over a black sheath. During my photo session today I noticed I had an unexpected surprise in my shot:

Kick-About Clothes

I'm on a mission to do a more dressed-up casual. It seems I go from dressed up for work to jeans and a tshirt with little middle ground. This is my first attempt that I wore last Saturday to meet a friend for the movies. We ended up seeing "Now You See Me", which was great up until the last 15 minutes.

Goodbye Granny, RIP

My granny passed away today.
I knew it was coming, but it didn't make it any less difficult. To make matters worse, I had to call my mother to tell her- that was a surreal call to make. A few weeks ago I posted a photo of my grandparents and shared my sentiments about them. I'm really glad I decided to open that part of my life to you, so that you can better understand how I feel tonight.
I miss her.

Pink Check Mini: The Retired and The Reborn

For the past few years I have rocked my pink check mini with this little pink jacket from JCPenney. But, the last time I wore it I noticed a disturbing sheen to the jacket that was a clear sign of age, over-ironing and general was time to let go of it. But the skirt is a stretchy, easy cotton that still has a couple of years to it at least....

So I decided to change up the look and matched it up with  a brown Lane Bryant jacket and pink Eloquii shell. With brown shoes and bag I think it took the skirt in a totally different direction.

Verge of An Addiction

For the past 5 years I have not bought a handbag. No, really. I've invested in a few shells for my Miche, but no real bag. And in the years that I was buying bag I'd spend $20-$40 on inexpensive bags. This weekend I started browsing eBay looking at designer bags and decided that I would splurge on some pre-owned designer fare.
Years ago I bought the Fendi bag pictured below on eBay and even though I'm fairly certain it's not authentic, I love the shape of it so I don't really worry about that. The brown Nine West is a gift from an old boyfriend (shhh, don't tell Dean that, lol!). There's no sentiment behind it but the particular shade of brown is hard to come by.

Stay tuned for my reveals over the next week as I get my pieces. I even prepared by lining my closet shelves with new black faux leather liner. This is going to be awesome!

Green with (Eloquii) Envy

It's been well over 2 years since I last wore this shirt but I was so happy to find it in the back of my closet when this Eloquii skirt arrived. I've been going totally insane all spring with buying out their inventory sale by sale and I picked this skirt up for a mere $12 (originally $65, thank you very much!).
I really enjoyed this look today and I'm looking forward to the next time it rolls back into rotation.
