FLO TV: More Baggage, Less Function

Imagine this- a company that has decided that its not enough for you to carry your mobile phone, GPS, Kindle and PMP device, but that you should add one more to the mix. And at $250 with an $8 monthly fee, FLO TV is acting like they don't remember that we're trying to dig ourselves out of an economic recession, not create a new one. What would be brilliant is if this device came with an ebook reader, GPS, or PMP functionality so that it could do more than just one thing.

USA's Population Control

I was watching a story on the news about a group of 17 high school girls who made a 'pregnancy pact' and methodically got themselves impregnated from various sources, including a homeless man. I suppose in the grand scheme of things, what with Jamie Lynn Spears getting pregnant in the public eye in her teens, and Jessica Alba et al minimizing the need for matrimony before conception, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened. Financially, maybe these girls are on to something. The US has the worst maternity leave policy in the western world (I mean, even Ethiopia, the country of the famed famine, has more paid time off!) If the workforce is so unforgiving to new mothers, perhaps the time to have a baby is before entering it. No, of course, this isn't right. But maybe its time for America to take a look at the impact 6 paltry weeks is having on its working populace- the people who could actually afford to have children, often can't comfortably

Android Trick: Remove Facebook Contact Photos

So, you've got your shiny new android phone and now you've linked all your Facebook contacts to your device. Well, unfortunately you'll notice that the default is for your contact to display the Facebook photo, even if you've got your own lovely photo you'd prefer to use. Here's how to get your preferred pic showing again for your contact: Go into your contact list and find the person. Press the menu button then choose edit account. At that pint you'll notice that your originally selected photo (not the one from Facebook) is showing. Tap the picture and then you'll have the option to use that photo, delete it or chose a different one from your gallery.
