Hope you're enjoying the holiday today! The last few weeks have been quite crazy for me, and its nice to get some downtime. On Saturday I had a friend over with her baby for a few hours so it was nice to see Seth interact so gently with a small 6-month old. Yesterday I went with some friends to Central 214, home of the Naughty Kitchen for brunch. We had an absolute blast and the food was beyond delicious. After brunch we headed to the movie theatre to see Sex and the City 2. I guess I had lowered my expectations after the poor reviews, so I was enjoyed it immensely. (Of course, the point of the movie is to relive the experience of the series! ).
Overall its been a great weekend so far!

By now everyone has seen the videos of the drool-worthy Sprint Evo 4G, and especially the HQ Youtube player. I hadn't given it much thought, as the Youtube player on my Nexus One seems to automagically bump up the video quality when its on Wifi.
But the one glitch that has irritated me for a while now is the fact that the filter by date feature doesn't work. Nothing major, just makes tedious work of trying to drill down during the search process.
I was browsing the Android central forums and came across this thread where forum poster pardonmyfreedom had been able to extract the HQ Youtube APK from the Sprint Evo 4G ROM. I pulled it and put it on my Nexus One and it works perfectly! There is an updated homescreen widget:
And more importantly the filter by bug is fixed! If you're interested in giving it a whirl you can pick it up here (forum registration needed). Enjoy!

Flash forward to today- I'm sitting in the emergency room while Seth is getting stitches and Dean suggested I order from Pei-Wei so we can pick up dinner on the way home. I didn't want to call in the middle of a crowded waiting room so I decided to try navigating to the site via my Nexus. The experience is exactly what I hope all mobile navigating will be in the near-future. The pages were perfectly formatted and the entire site was touch-friendly with pictures of each meal. Perfect!

There is a desktop component to help you add clothes from your PC, but that process works in such a clunky way that it really doesn't make it easy. You can't add in bulk, and after each entry you need to start all over.
And once you do get your data in, make sure you never have to hard reset! With no backup options I learnt that lesson the hard way after I rooted my Nexus.
But if you can overcome all those difficulties, you end up with a solid app to track what you wore and plan what you're going to wear. I'm glad to have any option for this at all!

This looks interesting and somehow makes the iPad seem like a more compelling device: The ClamCase for iPad will house the device and turn it into a sort of netbook device. With OS4 supporting Bluetooth keyboards, we might see a lot more accessories like this.

My goals for tweaking were: on-device screenshots, colored trackball notifications and a black bar. And thankfully I got everything I wanted. I haven't measured the battery life but I haven't noticed anything noticeably different.
The one thing that really has bothered me is that I haven't found a way to backup and restore application settings. I spent ages adding all my clothes to the My Closet app only to find that restoring the app via MyBackupPro didn't restore all my clothes *sigh*.
